buried treasure

a nomadic traveler:
steps out and away
from those in a
frenzy of familiarity.
yo ho ho! take a drink
(or three) to that. dazed in
a sea of foreign faces:
at will. ahoy, matey.
recalling a time from
another life, departed
selves reincarnating.
kindred spirits levitating.
engulfed by antiques,
rarities, all outlandish —
submerged in a
house of found objects.
both rowing, adjusting
sails. both lost. still are.
but now, new navigating
techniques tucked in travel.
and bon voyage! away they go
on each's way, to new lands: "i didn't know that," one marvels.
"i hadn't seen that," the other.
perhaps, given the proper
tide, the two cross the ocean
again, unpacking another
show and tell of discoveries.
but at the very least,
they've caught enough
wind to carry their ships ...
the rest of the way.
